Lenovo 3000 YSeries Notebooks

Lenovo has unveiled the new Lenovo Y300 and Y500 notebooks incorporating Lenovo's biometric face recognition technology to enhance data security and allow the notebooks to be used by multiple users seamlessly. This laptop might not be the best in the market, however its the Veriface software that actually makes this product interesting. For all those users who consider security as the primary issue, this product might be the solution.
The face recognition feature supported by Veriface software, takes a digital snapshot of the user, extracts key features of the user s face, and creates a digital map that becomes the system s 'password'. The technology recognizes multiple users and logs on to the Windows operating system and other applications without requiring users to remember a single password. In the event of an unauthorized attempt, the notebook photographs the user and stores the image in a log for verification.

Additionally, the Y500 has advanced Dolby Home Theater, a Shuttle Centre for easy navigation between features, a slot-in ODD (a trayless entry for CDs/DVDs) and a TV Tuner card. The Shuttle Center is an audio and video entertainment platform which helps the user navigate between menus without a mouse. The integrated Touch Pad features a wider touch area and provides two modes to avoid the incident touching of Touch Pad when using a mouse.
The Lenovo Y300 weighs 1.78 kg without battery and 2.03 kg with integrated slot-in optical disc drive and 13.1" wide screen, and 1.3 megapixel camera.
The Lenovo Y500 features: integrated Dolby Home Theater system; a subwoofer; integrated slot-in optical disc drive and 15.4" wide screen, 1.3 megapixel camera, and an integrated TV Tuner card with remote control.
